Industrial Composite Engineer (Temp. Support)

A vacancy for a temp position inside the Industrial Composite Technology department (OMIC) for Central Manufacturing Engineering has arisen within Airbus Commercial Aircraft. OMIC is the transnational team maturing new technologies in order to improve legacy & future programs. This opportunity is located in Spain, Illescas plant. ( Long Term leave around 10-12 month )

The job holder is accountable for:

• Scouting innovative Composites technologies for efficient end-to end composite part manufacturing industrial system
• Leading Composites Industrial technology R&T activities within the ME Community, being R&T focal point for Manufacturing Engineering to the R&T program
• Delivering mature solutions to product developments
• Supporting actively the transnational R&T community, sharing know-how and looking for synergies.
• Ensuring harmonized ME Principles, best-in-class and up-to-date practices

The jobholder is responsible for the performance and reliability of the New Manufacturing Technologies implementation. Main tasks and responsibilities are clustered within the 2 following working stream:

1. R&T project (50% of time)

   • Be an Industrial techno leader in R&T project (ie: Belly Fairing of Tomorrow)
   • Operational management of technologies developments with partnership of technology centers, academics and suppliers
   • Specify CFRP materials, auxiliary materials and toolings & processing parameters
   • Specify, develop and manage all kind of machines & industrial cells (including tooling) for composites manufacturing
   • Demonstrate mature processability at full industrial level (Manufacturing Test Pyramid).
   • Act in multi-disciplinary projects with different stakeholders
   • Elaborate Industrial Technology Strategies for short, mid and long-term with alignment of Industrial requirements
   • Identify the needs from the customer (future products) and deliver solutions
   • Contribute to R&T program ensuring compliance of funding contracts requirements through project budget compliance and contract documentation preparation
   • Manage risks inside the R&T projects
   • Report progress to customer & deliver maturity gates

2. A350 Freighter & dissemination of composite technos (50% of time)

   • Support A350F program with techno trades and industrialization support for internal and external part manufacturing
   • Support and lead improvement projects for composite technology in a multi-functional environment
   • Support composite process standardization and improvements
   • Analyze quality deviations and define the proper process adaptations
   • Work in transnational project teams with internal and external customers and suppliers

Your profile:

• Academic degree for materials, manufacturing systems or similar
• Highly experienced in composite processes, technology and materials, including monolithic & sandwiches
• Strong experience with ME processes and methods and in collaboration with Engineering
• Experienced in managing projects related to composite manufacturing, including buy process for big machines and/or tooling.
• High knowledge about Capex and OpEx management and budget processes
• Multi-year project management experience
• Strong industrialization background
• Highly motivated and engaged
• Very high attitude for working independently
• Open minded for new developments
• Experienced in transnational work
• Being creative and passion for working in a transnational technical environment
• Strong communication skills and stakeholder management

This role will involve business travels to composite plants and suppliers and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.
