Job Description: The Academic Technology Assistant (Part-time) will work in the supervision of the Berklee Valencia Recording Studios and Berklee Valencia Technology Labs during instructional weeks in the academic calendar. This includes checking students in and out at the time of their reservations, the management and control of all studio equipment (e.g. amps, cables, microphones etc ), helping students with troubleshooting software and hardware and assisting students on their projects as needed. Duties and Responsibilities: - Supervision of recording studios and technology labs during facilities opening hours, including early mornings, late nights and weekends- Check students in and out of their reservations- Troubleshooting Technology Lab workstations and Studio equipment- Maintaining the facilities, and assisting students as appropriate during their sessions- Mentoring and tutoring students throughout the year helping them to strengthen their knowledge of music technology and music technology tools and techniques- Supervise and support students in basic recording sessions- Organize schedules, both personally and with a group of people- Assist other areas and activities within the Technology Department, such as giving support during concerts and events- Other duties, as assigned Knowledge and Skills Required: - Bachelor’s degree in Music Technology, Engineering or similar, or equivalent work experience- Mastery of signal flow, microphone techniques, gain stages, recording and mixing, client relations and studio etiquette- Professional-level Pro Tools skills and a general understanding of other industry standard DAWs, e.g. Ableton, Logic and Digital Performer- Understanding of digital audio, specifically word clock synchronization- The ability to work quickly and under pressure without losing focus- Punctuality- Exceptional attention to detail- Availability to work shifts, including early mornings, late nights and weekends- The ability to follow detailed, complex instructions- Experience working in computer technology and expertise with the Macintosh operating system- Good knowledge of music notation software, sample libraries, MIDI and relevant hardware- Good knowledge of video game audio technology and video editing software (e.g. Adobe Premiere)- Fluent English and Spanish skills required (C1 or higher for both languages)- Cover letter explaining qualifications- Curriculum Vitae- Contact information for at least three professional references This document does not create an employment contract, implied or otherwise, other than an “at will” employment relationship.
