Description More About the Role : The Defense & Intelligence Group of Leidos has an opening for the Navy’s Service Management, Integration and Transport (SMIT) Outside Continental United States (OCONUS) Program in Rota, Spain. The SMIT contract will provide secure end-to-end Information Technology (IT) services to more than 400,000 hardware devices and 600,000+ users at over 1,600 Continental United States (CONUS) sites and over 82 OCONUS site across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East; constituting one of the largest combined networks in the world.

What You'll Get to Do :

  • Perform level 1 troubleshooting with guided support to include: remove and replace of Line Replaceable Units (LRU), perform basic network troubleshooting to include ping test, configuring IP address on the GT network connected devices and GT laptop, and basic miscellaneous troubleshooting including electrical, mechanical, Radio Frequency, Communications and Computer systems.
  • Perform periodic preventative maintenance inspections (PMIs), COMSEC, and organizational level hardware maintenance (test, removal, replacement) support that also includes periodic local on-site monitoring of alarms, general housekeeping, and equipment inspection.
  • Provide normal business hours support (Monday-Friday) and provide standby emergency support on weekends and nights upon notification from program office or the operations floor. Respond within 2 hours of after hours notification.
  • Interface with the local organizations or visitors when requested to provide physical access and escort.
  • Coordinate maintenance times and/or emergency maintenance actions.
  • Maintain and report on the supply and replenish requirements of parts, materials, and line replaceable units (LRU) of ground terminal (GT) system components.
  • Maintain and calibrate tools, test and measuring equipment.
  • Provide PMI summary and reports as requested within 10 business days of the request.
  • Provide basic periodic generator maintenance and inspection per OEM manual recommendations.
  • Maintain site mission critical HVAC systems located on the shelter, antenna hub, and servo control unit (SCU) per O&M manual.
  • Required vendor specific and Space Force specific training will be provided to ensure correct procedures are followed.

You'll Bring These Qualifications :

  • Requires B.S. Degree and 2-4 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with less than 2 years of prior relevant experience (additional years of related work experience may be substituted for a degree at the Hiring Manager's discretion).
  • Five years of directly related work experience in the Information Technology or Satellite Communication field.
  • US Citizen and an active DoD Secret Clearance.
  • Previous experience as a Satellite Communications Technician
  • Possess a current Information Assurance Technician (IAT) II certification (ex. CompTIA Security+ certification).
  • Hands-on Experience in working with DoD networks.
  • Willing to participate in a 24x7 on call rotation and respond to alerts within a specified time window after hours, on weekends, and holidays if on shift.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have :

  • At least 5 years of experience directly as a satellite communications technician.
  • Demonstrated hands-on expertise conducting periodic preventative maintenance in accordance with established procedures.
  • Exceptional communication abilities, both verbal and written, including long-form business writing on complex topics.
  • Proven ability to influence and mangers of other service support models and supporting teams.
  • Ability to manage globally distributed 24x7 operations to include short-notice travel in response to emerging operational issues.
  • Motivated self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to create complex technical reports on analytic findings.

Pay Range : Pay Range $54,600.00 - $84,000.00 - $113,400.00
