DevOps Engineer

Key Roles and Responsibilities:Work closely with Platform Specialists to receive detailed business/user requirement specifications that identify the goals of the programAssist with the preparation of a technical requirements document, including systems and flowcharts that diagrammatically show how the information will flow through the computer and its peripheral or related equipmentAnalyse business requirements and ensure that the designed solution meets those requirementsTransform the detailed requirements into a complete, detailed systems design document that focuses on how to deliver the required functionalityPerform proof of concept if requiredCompile detailed technical specifications based on their designs for developers or IT Programmers to implementConvert a design into a complete information system. This includes acquiring and installing the systems environment, creating and testing databases, preparing test case procedures, preparing test files, coding, compiling, refining programs, and performing test readiness review and procurement activitiesEnsure that throughout the development phase, the process is documented including the development procedures for application use and securityOversee the testing of the program prior to its deployment and releaseExamine any program errors in logic and data and make the necessary recommendations to correct the program as required and/or escalate the problem accordinglyWorks with the required teams to assist with the installation and deployment of the applicationAssist with implementation preparation and implementation of the solution into a production environmentAssist with the resolution of any problems identified in the integration and test phasesSupport all the code sets and implementations that have been implemented in production in accordance with defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for the businessWrite and distribute the task descriptions in a production environment to operate and maintain the solution that has been designed and implementedAssist with post-implementation process reviewsKnowledge, Skills and Attributes:Expert knowledge on multi-technology application design best practices which enable them to act as trusted advisors to internal clients on optimal application designsAbility to take holistic views of application environments, including hardware platforms, applications, databases, operating systems, and storageAbility to work with abstract concepts and have sound problem solving and analytical skillsStrong people interaction and collaboration capabilityDeep technical understanding of development and platform engineeringExcellent client-centricity with the ability to focus on business outcomesHighly Organized and planned individualSelf-starter and self-managedStrategic ability to define the technical direction in the portfolio of products including technical strategies and plans and execution plansStrong stakeholder and relationship managementExcellent communication skills to effectively interact with a variety of stakeholders, including the technical teams and clientsAbility to demonstrate impeccable attention to detail and work well within a team environmentGood knowledge of project management principles to ensure that projects with clients are executed accordinglyAbility to continuously contribute to the improvement of internal effectiveness by contributing to the improvement of current methodologies, processes, and toolsExpert knowledge on design, implement, and maintain continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to automate the software build, test, and deployment processes.Expert knowledge and experience with deployment and release management across environments.Expert knowledge of Automation tooling and source code repositories.Expert knowledge of continuous improvement and performance optimisation.Academic Qualifications and Certifications:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Information Technology or relatedRelevant DevOps certificationAgile related certificationunderstanding and certification of cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).Knowledge and certification of scripting and programming languages (e.g., Bash, Python, Ruby).Required Experience:Demonstrated years of experience deploying software solutions to clients in an outsourced or similar IT environmentDemonstrated experience working in a multi-team environment across multiple geographiesProgramming/development experience including Agile processes such as SCRUM, KANBANSkills SummaryAutomation Scripting, CI/CD, Cloud Platform, Communication, Container Orchestration, Cross-Team Collaboration, Security ComplianceWhat will make you a good fit for the role?
