SCIB Private Debt Mobilisation is looking for an Associate Role in Trade and Working Capital Solutions Distribution based in our Madrid office.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

Private Debt Mobilisation (PDM) is the department of Banco Santander Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) that is responsible for the distribution to investors of all private credit risk assets of CIB. This includes underwriting transactions, managing the underwriting risk of the bank, and syndicating, distributing, and hedging those transactions. This role is in the PDM Trade & Working Capital Solutions (TWCS) team, responsible for PDM activity for TWCS transactions.

We need someone like you to help us with the following tasks:

• Attending investor meetings in person and virtually and ensuring accurate records of these meetings are input into the systems and disseminated to the appropriate parties
• Very quickly you will be expected to work on some transactions, offering these to investors directly and managing the whole process of syndicating transactions from end to end. There is the opportunity to quickly progress to being the point person on larger/more complex transactions, based on ability and experience
• Liaising with internal counterparties in the TWCS business, Risk, Banking and Corporate Finance, Middle and Back Office and other functions
• Preparing presentations and teasers for investors
• Tracking the status of ongoing syndications
• Input into systems of closed transactions, maintenance of data quality through time and performing portfolio analysis, preparing reports for senior management tracking the progress against our distribution targets throughout the year
• Learning and understanding the market dynamics between banks, insurers, corporate clients and other parties in the value chain
• Supporting the wider team based in other geographies as required, this will allow you to quickly gain a global understanding of the business

EXPERIENCE

• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the Financial sector
• Some pre-existing knowledge of TWCS assets or other relevant experience (for example distribution experience in another asset class)
• You will have a solid interest in, and knowledge of, the Corporate and Investment banking industry and Banco Santander's place within it

• Strong work ethic

• Fluency in English.

• Desired skills:

• Direct experience of TWCS assets, either from an origination, distribution, risk etc. angle will be a strong differentiator

• Previous experience in distribution/syndication/sales

• German/Italian/French/Spanish language helpful (In due course you will be expected to learn to speak Spanish fluently as you will be based in Madrid. The bank will be able to provide lessons.)
