As a member of the Trading Compliance department within Repsol’s Division of Trading, the Trading Compliance Analyst will work to enable trading operations while managing various risks to the business.

Risk management activities will focus on ensuring compliance with external regulations while building upon existing compliance program & improving internal controls throughout the Trading division.

The ideal candidate seeks to proactively create solutions and take ownership of initiatives , shepherding them to completion. The team has a broad scope of work, including: third party risk management, due diligence, monitoring regulations, designing policies and controls, creating and delivering training content, frequently presenting, and working with large data sets.

The candidate is expected to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously that have never been done before and collaborate in a very cross-functional environment. The ability to create value with no prior template is crucial by envisioning, designing and executing successful projects and products.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Continually improve the Trading Compliance program and internal control structure, identifying gaps and recommending risk-mitigating solutions.
  • Proactively monitor applicable external regulations, advising on the impacts to the business and ensuring operations are carried out in accordance with their guidelines.
  • Provide strategic direction during business development and deal structuring process with regard to compliance implications of proposed new business activities.
  • Perform third party due diligence activities, including understanding and monitoring international sanctions regimes and advising the business on other third-party risks (e.g. anti-bribery, etc.).
  • Develop operational compliance tools, including but not limited to: policies and procedures, internal checklists, roles & responsibilities charts, etc.
  • Facilitate and lead as speaker at training sessions in front of large audiences on technical topics, to educate stakeholders on compliance impacts to their business activities.
  • Develop a deep understanding of Repsol’s front-to-back office trading processes, and coordinate with other groups (e.g. Front-Office, Back-Office, Risk, Processes, IT, and Legal) to ensure that all processes are designed to operate in line with external and internal regulations.
  • Liaise with corporate functions such as Legal, Audit, Risk, etc. to support initiatives as needed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelors in Law or Business related degree, or an equivalent.
  • More tan 5 years of Proven experience in similar positions
  • High proficiency in English and Spanish.
  • Expert knowledge of energy trading and/or shipping and/or financial markets regulatory environment.
  • Deep knowledge of international sanctions regimes and its application to the trading and shipping businesses.
  • High proficiency in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to assess risks across trading operations, designing and implementing relevant processes/controls to mitigate them.
  • Ability to understand and communicate complex legal, regulatory, and policy documents.
  • Self-motivated, able to work productively with little supervision and effectively manage projects to completion amid shifting priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness and attitude to continually learn, improve, and share knowledge with others.
