Career Opportunity

The primary function of the Port Engineer role is to support the Navy Expeditionary Combat Command (NECC) in any corrective maintenance and expeditionary repairs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Collect data and troubleshoot equipment and system failures to determine the underlying issue
  • Conduct and document planned O-level and corrective maintenance procedures up to I-level and perform expeditionary repairs associated with operational testing and certification in the Navy Maintenance Database
  • Provide material assessment evaluations to the deployed unit and NECC N43
  • Reviews work specifications, coordinates schedules with repair activities, oversees repairs, and providing input for all maintenance funding decisions
  • Attends weekly status meetings and provides requested status information to support maintenance planning and corrective action maintenance recommendations
  • Produces work packages with technical activity cost estimates for regular overhauls and continuous maintenance availabilities
  • Develops documentation for major future overhaul and modification planning needs including Boat Alteration Requests, Liaison Action Records, and Engineering Change Proposals
  • Aids in procuring intermediate-and depot-level support for NCG, CRG, EODGRU, NAVELSG, and NEIC
  • Conducts ship checks of the unit’s work notifications for validity and verifies with the current Consolidated Ship Maintenance Plan
  • Compares work notifications to the work specifications in the Navy Maintenance Database to verify the correct work scope is being accomplished
  • Reviews Condition Found Reports and Change Requests to verify the work is required and being accurately prioritized
  • Continuously inspects vessels during continuous maintenance availabilities and regular overhauls to determine the work being accomplished is within specifications and work notifications
  • Produces and employs more efficient procedures for inventory control including analysis of current materials and future material needs
  • Documents the process, changes, and material inventory
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner in accordance with established company policies to achieve the overall objectives of this position

Travel :

  • This position does require regular travel to Fleet Concentration Support areas including Middle East Ports for repairs.

Education, Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities Required :

  • 15 years Navy ship maintenance, repair and operational experience
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • MKVI boat experience preferred

Physical Requirements :

  • Capable of sitting for long periods of time, standing, walking, crouching and kneeling
  • Reaching, handling, using equipment, keyboards and mobile devices
  • Lifting boxes (files and supplies) up to 20 lbs
