Key responsibilities To publish articles in high-impact journals. To be an active researcher at AINA research group or establish another research group with an emphasis on their research topic. To work as part of a team preparing and presenting scientific projects. To obtain competitive projects and/or research grants. To provide quality education to both undergraduate and postgraduate students in the fields of Communication Sciences ( Journalism ). To administer and/or coordinate Academic Programs, as well as any other type of administrative duties assigned by the faculty. Contribute to the development and revision of the curriculum of the degree program in Journalism. Selection process In May 2018, EURAXESS awarded the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya with an Excellence Award for Research in Human Resources, which ensures that candidates are selected purely based on excellence criteria. The UIC Barcelona selection process involves: An independent board of experts that assesses all applications and decides who will move onto the next stage. All members of this board are from outside UIC Barcelona. A public oral defense by finalist applicants: a presentation about their career (both academic and teaching) and their research projects. Following the presentation, the examination panel will ask a series of questions to conclude the defense. The defense should last a total of 60 minutes. Requirements PhD in Journalism, Communication, or related field. Demonstrated experience in university teaching and supervising research projects in the field of Journalism. Relevant academic publications in indexed journals. In-depth knowledge of current trends in journalism, including digital media. Ability to work in a team and participate in curriculum development activities. Assessment criteria The following aspects of the candidate’s CV will be evaluated: Knowledge and professional experience The ability to carry out independent research. Particular attention will be paid to candidates with experience as a principal researcher, as well as those who have made valuable contributions in terms of scientific productivity as part of a research group led by another researcher. Research stays at prestigious international centers for Social Communication will also be highly valued. Experience teaching at university level. Experience in academic administration (such as program coordination and management, experience writing reports and academic reports as well as research projects). Previous teaching experience at UIC is preferred, but not mandatory. Experience teaching in English, Spanish and/or Catalan. Accreditation by Aneca or AQU is preferred, but not mandatory.
