Your profile :

  • Certification as a sommelier or a degree in hospitality is beneficial.
  • Food handling certificate.
  • High level of English essential, Spanish a plus.
  • Minimum of 2-3 previous experience as a sommelier, wine steward, or in a hospitality role.
  • Extensive knowledge on wines and regions of the different types.
  • Knowledge of local vineyards and wineries.
  • Computer skills an advantage.
  • Working in a team.
  • Efficient communication skills.
  • Strong oenology skills.
  • Large volume service and time management.
  • Previous experience as a sommelier, wine steward, or in a hospitality role.
  • 2-3 years minimum sommelier.

Main tasks and responsibilities :

  • This is a position for an energetic individual, who will be able to integrate and assume responsibilities in any outlets and strive to achieve excellence every day.
  • To actively educate and train students in different areas through practical classes together with fellow instructors, transmitting them knowledge, values, aptitudes, and the best abilities to attend to their needs and for their professional future.
  • To actively contribute to driving sales, recommending wine varieties to our guests, supervising wine serving and collaborating with winemakers to renew our selections and achieve better prices.
  • Prepare/setup operations according to criteria.
  • To follow ordering protocol.
  • Control and preservation of stock.
  • Implement HACCP and product control in the various sections.
  • Flexible working schedules, days, hours to comply with the job.
  • Assist in teaching, according to the syllabus for each group.
  • To be innovative and consistent in quality control.
  • Effective communication/work with the students and Instructors.
  • To implement the procedures of behavior and absences as per requirements.
  • Provide feedback and support to the instructors concerning student evolvement.
  • Creating and updating wine lists with the head sommelier and manager.
  • Making recommendations on food and wine pairings.
  • Ensuring that the wine cellar is fully stocked.
  • Informing guests on the variety of wines available.
  • Organizing wine tasting events.
